Roses for Penny Sage
"Painting roses as they flower around me. Pink roses outside the laundry by the washing line. Red roses brought home from a sister’s garden. Wild white roses from the side of the road. Looking through photo books of roses on the lounge floor. Roses in a vase, lit up in the evening sun.
Included in Penny Sage’s Autumn/Winter collection is a rose print on dark velvet, based on a series of paintings I have made while living by the sea; inspired by the silvery colours of the ocean and sand on an overcast day, and roses that grew near the beach.
To celebrate the release of Penny Sage’s collection I have made four new rose paintings, inspired by the new home I live in with Rosa and Abbie. A house among the trees on the side of a hill. Sunlight pouring into the lounge in the evenings. Roses glowing in the light."
