*FUNDRAISER*
Kaukau and Architecture Aotearoa for Palestine (AA4P) present Windows of Palestine, a poetry performance by Erhasat, featuring Lee Stuart. The event will run on Thursday September 19, 6pm at Two/Fifty Seven, Willis Street.
This is a ticketed event, with all proceeds from this fundraiser equally distributed to Tasneem Hassan Ayad, the subject of this performance, and ReliefAid.
This work is an original, living architectural-art research project by Palestinian artist and architectural educator, Sameh Shamout, PhD. Originally performed in Cairo in 2011, Windows of Palestine has evolved from a poetic novel into a unique fusion of performance art, musical poetry and theatrical storytelling.
In this performance, Architecture bears witness to the military occupation and destruction of Palestine. The buildings come alive to speak of real-life people and their ongoing struggle to inhabit their urban environment.
The stories of displacement echo through the windows of each room, each building - even through the fragile walls of a tent - bringing profound insight into the human condition, and the plight of the Palestinian people.
This event peacefully ignites embers of hope and connection to the outside world, blurring the edges between reality, and possibility. Ticket and venue details are as below:
